Choral Evensong for Saint Cecilia

800px-Saint_Cecilia_WymondleyAcclaimed as the Patron Saint of Music and Musicians, Cecilia was a third century martyr whose feast day falls on November 22nd. Music has been written in honor of her by musicians as diverse as Purcell, Handel, Britten, and Howells, to The Andrews Sisters, Brian Eno, and Paul Simon!

The Trinity Cathedral Choir celebrates the feast of our patron with Choral Evensong, on Thursday, November 19th at 6:00 pm. Included will be music by Bruce Neswick, Henry Ley, and Charles V. Stanford. The service will conclude with Herbert Howells’ anthem “A Hymn for Saint Cecilia,” based on a poem by Ursula Vauhgan-Williams.

Choral Evensong is a lovely way to end a busy and noise-filled day. Please join us!
Trinity Cathedral is located at 2620 Capitol Avenue at 27th Street, in midtown Sacramento.
